Laughter is the best medicine - there are no deductible or co-pays.
If you're not a brain surgeon or a pilot

Thought for the Day:
Thought for the Day
So, thought for the day… You can’t grasp the pleasure of today if you’re busy holding on to the pain of the past.
Thought Of The Day....
What a Day Brightner...
The Perfect Country and Western Story
My editor wrote - the final reader contacted me this morning and this is what she had to say: One of the best things a good story has is wonderful characters, I fell in love with all of them, but I must say Patrick was my favorite. I did cry in a part or two which added to the flow of the book. All in all great job, loved the story.
I can't wait to announce a release date....

Christmas Mischief
Christine Columbus
Contemporary romance
Available from The Wild Rose Press
December 2007
Heading to her Grandma’s, out in the country, for Christmas, Amber gets stuck with a flat tire. Then her dog accidentally locks her out of the car without her coat, her cell phone and no way to call for help. She’s caught acting like a fool trying to get back into her car by a very handsome stranger, who after helping her out and flirting like crazy, doesn’t even ask for her phone number. What else could possibly go wrong?
What a cute story. Amber and Tony make a very cute couple. You know that any man who would help a little old lady who was recently widowed would make a great guy to spend your life with. Amber’s dog, Charlie, is hilarious. His crazy actions will have you holding your side from laughing so hard. And while you will find yourself feeling sorry for Amber’s situation, you will also find yourself envious of her. This book is a fun, cute read that will put a smile on your face and will restore your belief that there really are good guys out there. If you enjoy a quick read that will put a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart, you need to read this book.

What is it you want most?
On my Florida Romance Writers Cruise... I found one way to answer the question is to make a list of 20....
Writing I want:
1. Characters who aren't bound by fear
2. A reader to laugh out loud
3. A beginning, middle and an end
4. The premise of the story to be possible

Like Kelli Zel's Master Sergeant
Lola Moore is tired of the same tired type of guy she’s been dating, and hasn’t had a good date in a long time. A chance meeting with a US Army Master Sergeant and a winter storm are about to change all that! When Lola encounters the sexy Sergeant in the grocery store their attraction is instantaneous and they flirt as they pass each other through out the store. But it isn’t until Lola accidently runs into him with her cart that she decides to do anything about it. Fearing he might really be hurt and that if she lets him walk away she’ll never see him again, Lola takes him home. One thing is for certain, it won’t be cold at Lola’s house during the storm!
If your fantasy is meeting a stranger and having incredible sex then come along for the ride with Lola as she pursues her fantasy. I would never have the guts to risk taking a stranger home but it sure is fun to read about Lola’s adventure. I liked Lola’s confidence and willingness to go for what she really wants even if it might lead to heartache later. And the Sergeant in this story meets every fantasy of a hot military man rolled into a fun and beautiful package that I wish I could have unwrapped myself. Ms. Zel has a wicked sense of humor and fun that takes this sizzling, sexy encounter to another level by keeping the characters entertaining and the reader grinning. I will be on the lookout for other stories by Ms. Zel as her style of story is easy to read and fun for all my senses! If you want a fun, titillating, stranger encounter fantasy, you can’t go wrong with Master Sergeant!

I Performed at the Ritz....
I had a great time and the emcee Geoff said, 'I hope you'll do lots of readings for your upcoming novel. You have a knack and you pop on stage.'
My good friend Teri who watched the performance and took pictures said, 'you were great...funny...etc., etc., etc.,'
And Teri and I only had one martini....
And Matt Peiken from 3 minute egg said the broadcast should be online Thursday

I'm Excited...
I've been selected by one of the judges to be a finalists for MnArtists' MiniStories competition.
My piece will be published online.
I'll be reading my work next Monday at 7pm in the lobby of the Ritz Theater in Northeast Minneapolis.
And I'm in the running for grand prize, which is a commission to write a longer story.
All good stuff.

When did you know that your life was going to be so wonderful? Or did you always know this?
Interesting question… and it makes me wonder…. Did I know how wonderful my life was when I worked at Minnegasco… looking back I know that I have been blessed – like you – I’ve always been grateful for my kids, their health, my health - and being able to provide for them – but I remember being angry, too.
So, I’m not sure – but all I can say is I have never been happier than I am now… and everyday things get better and better… and I am not angry anymore – I wake up smiling and I go to bed smiling… (sometimes the grin is a little bit bigger than other nights) And I wish everyone could feel as good as I do… I’m so grateful to be happy and to have found happiness when I did – I would have hated to have grown old and when people thought back all they remember was how crabby or angry I was…
When I went away for the weekend and a couple of the gals commented about how funny I was – it made me feel so good. When I can get people to laugh – I feel wonderful… I like it when people laugh and feel good… that make me feel like I have a wonderful life – which might be why I enjoy being a mom so much – it is so easy to please kids and make them happy (harder to get teenagers/young adults to laugh with you – but I can get them to laugh at me) and they are so appreciative – send them some rice crispy bars or offer to make dinner for Bridget and Dustin and they’re happy – how easy is life and wonderful is life.
So, if my goal was to be rich and famous – then I guess my life wouldn’t be wonderful because I haven’t accomplished those things – but because I only want to make people happy and hear them laugh – I am accomplishing my goals and therefore I have a wonderful life.
So, the answer to your question is – when I decided what was important and then started to find ways to make it happen – I knew I had a wonderful life.
Pretty simple, huh….
